The b4-Kindy program is an early learning program at Quambone Public School for the children in the year before they start kindergarten.

What is the b4-Kindy program?

The b4-Kindy program is a dynamic early learning opportunity for children in the year before they start kindergarten. It’s available at eligible public schools in small, rural, remote and very remote communities. The program gives your child a strong start by combining guided learning with time to explore, play and discover. It follows the Early Years Learning Framework, helping children develop important skills in a fun and supportive environment. Children take part in b4-Kindy in a mixed-grade classroom with older students. A School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) works closely with the classroom teacher to support your child’s learning. There are also small group sessions during the day, giving children extra support and time to build social and learning skills. b4-Kindy helps children feel confident and ready to start school, while staying connected to their local community.

How often will the b4-Kindy program run?

At Quambone Public School the b4-Kindy program is available 3 days a week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It runs in conjunction with school from 9 am to 3pm.

Is my child eligible for the b4-Kindy program?

Your child can enrol in b4-Kindy if they turn 4 years old on or before 31 July and plan to start kindergarten the following year.

Attendance

Full-time attendance is not required. You can choose the number of days that best suits your child and your family’s needs. Schools will work with families to support flexible attendance and help make sure the program fits individual circumstances.

How to enrol

Contact Quambone Public School if you are interested in enrolling your child in the b4-Kindy program or would like more information. Unlike NSW public schools, there are no intake areas for public preschools. Enrolment is on application only.

Enrolling in a preschool within a school does not guarantee a place at that school for Kindergarten.
